About me
Hi my name is Janna and I run Great Pups. I started dog boarding in my home at Newcastle Great Park in 2023 and then assisting at weddings in 2024 as a dog chaperone, where I cover venues across the North East and Northern Lake District. Having worked a few years dog boarding all year round now I have gained valuable experience and knowledge looking after a number of different breeds.
I have completed accredited courses in both Pet Sitting & Dog Walking and Dog First Aid, am fully insured and have been DBS checked. I have also been inspected by Newcastle City Council and subsequently been issued a dog boarding license.
Living at Newcastle Great Park, I am conveniently situated a few minutes away from the A1 motorway. This location provides great links to a number of venues across the North East region. I offer standard wedding chaperone packages but can also tailor these service if you would just prefer a short visit from your dog on the day. I also offer overnight boarding at my own home before and after the wedding, taking away all the stress and hassle on the day itself. As I have no dogs of my own your dog will have my full attention and I can follow their usual routine during their stay to make them feel more comfortable and settled.
Please be aware when boarding dogs overnight the following applies:
- I only board small to medium sized dogs (up to 18kg)
- dogs will need to be able to be left alone for up to 3 hours per day
- dog food is to be supplied by owner
- dogs must be fully vaccinated and up to date with worming, flea and tick cover
- I do not currently accept dogs under 12 months of age, aggressive, dominant dogs or any that bark excessively

Weddings
Chaperone services
Great Pups cover wedding venues throughout the North East and Cumbria and allows you to make your dog a part of your big day. I will make sure that your dog is looked after and all their needs are taken care of allowing you all to share the big day, stress free. I can also provide overnight boarding before and after the wedding day if required.
Our package includes:
- A meet and greet session before the wedding to discuss your dog's routine and formulate a plan for the big day
- Collection of your dog from a pre arranged location and transport to and from the venue
- A pre ceremony walk to burn off any excess energy
- Your dog groomed and dressed in their wedding attire ready for the ceremony (accessories can be provided)
- Assistance with any parts of the ceremony the dog may be included in
- Your dog chaperoned at all times throughout the day providing comfort breaks with food and water as required
- Working alongside the photographer to ensure the wedding shoot runs smoothly and all requested pictures are taken
- A collection of photographs and videos documenting your dog's day, sent directly to your phone after the ceremony
- Your dog returned to their accommodation or boarded overnight at Great Pups
Please note:
- A 20% deposit is required on booking, the remaining balance is to be paid 2 weeks prior to the wedding
- The package price includes a travel radius of 40 miles from NE13 (North East) or CA11 (Cumbria), any additional mileage will be charged at 45p per mile
- An additional dog can be added at a cost of £50
- Overnight boarding can be provided (extra charge for overnight boarding to be added, price detailed below)
- For Lake District weddings overnight boarding will need to be undertaken in paid accommodation (not necessarily the wedding venue)
- Photoshoot only packages are also available on request, please contact us for a tailored quote.

Janna was exactly what we needed on the day of our wedding. She was so professional and knew exactly what was required in order for us to get the experience and joy of having our pup Joey there without the stress and worry of how to deal with him and hoping he was ok.
She picked him up from where he had been staying the night before and dropped him back there later. She arranged for him to come round and see me whilst I was getting ready and pose accordingly in his wedding attire.
Joey absolutely loved her too!
