Great Pups offers personalised dog boarding and wedding chaperone services in North East England and the Lake District.
We hold a full dog boarding license from Newcastle City Council (HB020), we are DBS checked, fully insured, and trained in First Aid, with an accredited diploma in pet sitting and dog walking.
About me
Hi, I’m Janna – the person behind Great Pups! I began offering home-from-home dog boarding in Newcastle Great Park in 2023, and in 2024 I expanded to include wedding chaperone services across North East England and the Northern Lake District. After boarding dogs year-round for several years, I’ve built up extensive hands-on experience caring for all sorts of breeds and personalities.
I’m fully insured, DBS-checked, and have completed accredited courses in both Pet Sitting & Dog Walking and Dog First Aid. I’ve also been inspected by Newcastle City Council and now hold an official dog-boarding license. Based in Newcastle Great Park, I’m just a few minutes from the A1, which makes it easy for me to reach various venues across the North East region. I offer a range of wedding chaperone packages and am always happy to tailor services if you’d simply like your dog to pop by for a short visit on your special day. Additionally, I provide overnight boarding before and after your wedding to ensure everything is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Since I don’t have any dogs of my own, your dog receives my full attention and plenty of one-to-one care. I ensure they follow their usual routine so they feel comfortable, happy, and right at home.
Please be aware when boarding dogs overnight that the following applies:
- Dogs will need to be able to be left alone for up to 3 hours per day
- Dog food is to be supplied by the owner
- Dogs must be fully vaccinated and up to date with worming, flea, and tick cover
- I do not currently accept dogs under 12 months of age, aggressive or dominant dogs, or any that bark excessively.

Chaperone services
Great Pups specialises in wedding venues across North East England and Cumbria, ensuring your dog is part of your special day. As your dedicated wedding chaperone, I will ensure your dog is well cared for, happy, and has everything they need, allowing you to enjoy every moment completely stress-free. If needed, I can also provide overnight boarding before and after the wedding to make things even easier.
Our package includes:
- A meet and greet session before the wedding to discuss your dog's routine and formulate a plan for the big day.
- Collection of your dog from a pre-arranged location and transport them to and from the venue.
- A pre-ceremony walk to help burn off any excess energy.
- Your dog will be groomed and dressed in their wedding attire, complete with accessories if desired, ready for the ceremony.
- Assistance with any parts of the ceremony that your dog may be included in.
- Throughout the day, your dog will be chaperoned at all times, ensuring they receive comfort breaks with food and water as required.
- Working alongside the photographer to ensure the wedding shoot runs smoothly and that all requested pictures are taken.
- After the ceremony, you'll receive a collection of photographs and videos documenting your dog's day, sent directly to your phone.
- Finally, your dog will be returned to their accommodation or boarded overnight at Great Pups.
Please note:
A 20% deposit is required upon booking, with the remaining balance due 2 weeks prior to the wedding. The package price includes a travel radius of 40 miles from NE13 (North East) or CA11 (Cumbria); any additional mileage will be charged at 45p per mile. An additional dog can be added for a cost of £50. Overnight boarding is available at an extra charge, detailed below. For Lake District weddings, overnight boarding must be undertaken in paid accommodation (not necessarily the wedding venue). Photoshoot-only packages are also available on request; please contact us for a tailored quote.

She was so professional and knew exactly what was required for us to enjoy the experience of having our pup Joey there, without the stress and worry of managing him as our wedding chaperone. She picked him up from where he had been staying the night before and dropped him back later. She arranged for him to come around and see me while I was getting ready, posing accordingly in his wedding attire. Joey absolutely loved her too!
